transplant question
Well, she did it again ... I started to map out the back yard and the wife throws a wrench in the works. I planted 7 large bananas this spring. Wife brings home a shed and wants it right where the bananas are planted. I would of said no, but her logic this time made sense. Plus it gives me a garden area. How do I transplant these big guys ? Any additives? Fertilize at 1/2 strength ??? Any additional information would be greatly appreciated

Loosen alot of dirt in the new Planting Beds and get all the roots you can when you dig them up.. :^)

would it be okay to fertilize, of should I just use a compost tea or seaweed extract for now ?

I would amend the new spot with LOTS of compost before planting. If you have mycorrhizae, dust the roots of your plants before transplanting them. Watering with a seaweed solution can never hurt.

Take as big a root ball as possible, dig a new hole larger than the root ball. Put the plant in the hole and fill the hole with compost. Water well. Do it quick while there is enough warmth to get the plant to put out new roots before the winter siesta.
I have transplanted 10+ ft. plants. It can be done, but they are heavy. Do not trim off leaves. The plants will figure out what they need and can support.
