Tip: Cheapest planting media

I put generous amount of Steer Manure from Home Depot or WalMart in the planting holes or in pots, they sell for less than $1 per cu ft. Better yet is the horse manure from your friend's ranch, and if you don't have access to one, go to HD or WM.

Bananas love organic matter, especially the steer manure, and we are lucky that they are the cheapest dirt sold in big box stores.

anything i can add after they have been planted? so far my bananas have been doing fantastic...they are shooting new leaves each once a week...i fertilize once a month with a banana fertilizer I bought from Going Bananas nursery.

Yes, steer manure is very good to add even after you plant the bananas. It is just a little bit stinky. I keep topping off my planted bananas in the ground with that. It improves our clay soil. Do not add steer manure during the fall or when cold rainy season comes. I do this only starting mid spring in our area.
