Can I ask if your basement is heated? I can’t decide if I should cut them to the ground or dig mine up? We had our first frost here last night.

My basement is 60ºF in the winter, small windows allow a little bit of sunlight. In March I will start some Elephant Ear tubers and then I will start running some lights. It will be near the Bananas in pots, so they will get a little more light then. If they are bone dry they will get a shot of water, the bare root plants won't get water until it's warm enough to move them to the garage. I am going to try and winter a couple Banana plants over in the garden. I haven't had any luck the last 2 years but I didn't really protect them well. This year I will protect them better and see what happens.

Sorry, all the pups grew up, Mom had to be cut back to the choke. Mom was 8', cut six to eight inches at a time until till it started pushing. Then pop goes the Banana's. I used to be afraid to be to aggressive cutting them back until I had a few split near the bottom and put out Banana's.
