Default SH-3640 flies north

I picked up these beauties in the mail ..
Dwarf Nino and SH-3640 next to a Namwah from forum member gmichal403

They were potted this morning in 37 degree weather..
Bare rooted corms were planted in root manageable 3 gallon landscape containers for the winter.

The planting medium is a premoistened pearlite/peat moss mix salted with mycorrhizae and rooting hormones.
This is a 60 degree difference from Hectors garden to mine.
Currently resting under 900 watts of flouresent love.

I told Hector they went from the frying pan to the freezer.
These plants will be interesting to manage in zone 5/6.
I do think the SH-3640 will be a beast....lets see.

This is a very late season grow for me.....so I am anxious to see a new leaf.....in December...

Thanks Hector for these precious plants.........I will grow them like I stole them..

Plants are currently resting in the Jungle.

Can’t beat TaNee Tablecloths!

Good luck Mike! They will do great in your hands! So exciting to see the real SH3640 getting spread around! Seriously one of the best nanners you can grow!

Thanks,

I cannot wait to see what it does in variable conditions like mine.

It is great to have the real SH3640 and not the poser that was teased on the forum a few years back!!

Southwestern Ohio had a nasty windstorm and broke every leaf on the TaNee and they all had to come off,

Thanks,

Your Namwah has set some roots and is showing signs of life.

For me this is a late season grow with plants which are not established in a pot.

I like to grow in the summer instead of bringing the summer to them.

I can tell the will be beasts from everyones photos.

Now I cannot wait till spring

After 60 days these plants look EXACTLY like the day I got them in the mail on 10-20.

BUT down below in the soilless mix roots and a nino pup is developing.

I did have to trim the Nino a few inches because the stem was desicating and hindering the new leaf ...the leaf should emerge in a few weeks...January or Feb.

The Pstems have firmed up(stopped wobbling because of root structure) nicely in the containers and are transpiring moisture.

The Sh-3640 is even pushing a few grains of Hectors sugar white sand from the leaf sheaths.

I ought to do a contest as to when the first leaf will emerge on the 3640.....February March April May ???....

my sh-3640 also were slow in showing any signs of life for a couple of months, had to worry about them, they died back to the corm. but the corms remained firm and one is just starting to push out leaves.

90+ days into the grow and all is well.
In a few more weeks it will be 120 days
Some desiccation to the outer stem which should peel soon.

So far so good.

Hector,
Here is the little fella.
He is weened off the bottle and now eating solids.
The two items the container are terracotta watering spikes.

Cannot wait to put him in a big boy pot.
