Default Pups popping out like crazy, what to do? 😰 (Pictures)

I recently acquired a large banana plant but it died very quickly (part 1 of the story here).
Now, pups are growing crazy!
Not sure if I should get rid of the dead plant's trunk, and not sure if I should only let 1 or 2 or 3 pups grow and get rid of the rest...
Also, the fastest growing pup's leaves don't seem healthy (see photos). I haven't been watering it very much, could that be why?

One more proof that you should never give up on a banana plant.

You can cut the old/dead plant back to the top pf the corm, if you want.
Push the whole group with some fertilizer (small amounts more frequently is better). Be ready to up pot or plant in ground when they get a little larger. Root mass will quickly overcome the pot they are in now. I wouldn't split them up.

Also water more frequently and put a pot saucer under the pot after it has drained from watering. Where are you located?

I'm in Vancouver BC, which is just entering the sunny/warm season... The window next to the plant is south-west facing so the plant gets good amount of sun in the afternoon.

I was told that I should wait till the top inch of soil dry completely before watering again, so that would be once a week at most. Are you suggesting I should water more frequently than that?

I would put the pot in the kitchen sink and water thoroughly. Let sit till it drains. Return to south facing window. When the pot feels lighter in weight repeat the process. A medium-low-high NPK fertilizer now and then is good.

Apply sparingly.

Oh --- and move to South Florida with your plants when you can!
