Cross (1st shown) is an ornamental, but the other two will bear fruit. In Florida, you could very likely have fruit next summer.

I was just wondering how you & the nanners were doing.

Ice Creams get pretty tall. I'd guess you'll see a pup when that one gets another foot on it (estimating that is a 6' fence back there). Its momma is fruiting now, there is some chatter here on the board about that, and photos in my gallery. I have the August 1st update in my camera I need to upload.

It was 18 months from ~3" tall to blooming. I don't remember exactly when that pup came up, but I think it was Jan/Feb so I'm going to predict it blooms next June for you.

Keep us up to date!

Welcome to the forums I live very close to you in Brandon. I have some different varieties that have pups. I would be willing to give you some if you like. They were gifts from another member from Tampa ( rmplmnz). They have muliplied and I would be happy to share. Glenn

heynow - thanks for the offer but I think I'm going to wait and see how I get the ones I have through the winter before adding any to my collection.

Since you are in my area (zone 9) what did you do to get your plants through? Did you wrap them up? Use a frame? I know it's 95 degrees out there right now, but I like to be prepared And if I have to actually build something to support a cover, well....I need lots of time. Two of mine are against a wood fence but one is in the open next to a chainlink fence. Thanks for all advice.

When my plants were small I built frames out of pvc with lights in them. Last year they were to big and took a hit but they are doing good now.

I am dyng to get my first flower. I dug up my bananas and put them under the house this past winter.

I live in NC...what are the chances this would work for the winter for me?

I would say that if none of your plants dies, pretty big.

These would look great as Christmas ornaments rather than the little paper bags with candles folks put around their walks here. My neighbors here would expect something like that...........maybe with a Basjoo
