Re: Oasis Tropical Plants and Trees, is a joke of a company
I too got suckered by Oasis Tropical when I ordered 5 california golds in January of this year. I got the same notification about delaying shipment due to poor weather and when I phoned I got the same recorded message about "working on the sprinklers". When all was said and done it took until June for me to get Mastercard to reverse the charges (it was too far after the fact for eBay to honor their "buyer protection" guarantee.) Luckily I was able to provide Mastercard with copies of the emails promising shipment as well as emails and phone messages that I had left - with no response from "Dr. Mike" - asking them to either ship the items or refund the purchase price.
I also noticed that by June they had disappeared from the eBay without a trace. And even though you could still find them on-line, I never got any type of response when I requested an explaination regarding my January order. But I see now - 3 months later - that they are back on-line with a spiffy new webpage. I personally would not trust them. |

Re: Oasis Tropical Plants and Trees, is a joke of a company
Yo Gang: Thanks for the buyer caution! I am a newbie, but since I purchased a couple of baby nanners, I would love highly recommend Sandy, at Northern Tropics Greenhouse, in Muncie In. She posts here in our forum and I will give her the highest 5 Star level of customer service I can muster, because it is the truth!
I had a problem, one of my babies, which was snapped off at the top of the pot, by rough handling in the mail. I called to whine and ask if I could salvage...she said she would reship a new one a no cost. Also gave me advice on how to care for my new babies. It arrived, great shape, I replanted both into 1 gal pots, and they are now happy and growing well! I will be doing more business with her for sure! Stay Safe, brothertom BTW does anyone have a recommendation for a book on growing nanners, maximizing growth and keeping them happy please? |

Florida 'Hell' Nursery thread The main problem was that the owner was posting on here as a customer of theirs, hiding the fact that he was actually the owner. He was giving great reviews about all the plants he claimed he got from them. Then when confronted as actually the owner, and not the customer he was claiming to be, instead of just admitting it he became very abusive, and I believe was banned from the forum. I don't know about plant quality or what type of service, but if you are reputable and have great customer service and great plants you would not need to try to pass yourself off as a customer. You would also not be abusive to prospective customers. |

Re: Oasis Tropical Plants and Trees, is a joke of a company
Add me to the list.Oasis took my money and I never got any plants or refund. They turned up in my first search. After they did not ship,my second search found Fl.Hill Nursery. They did everything they said they would do.Confirmation, tracking etc.Shipped in 2 days. The plants were as I expected. One even had new roots. They all came out quickly.I potted using rotten pine straw, with lime. They jumped. The temps. were 70-90.If no rain I watered daily.Lightly fertilize every 2 weeks. As much Sun as I could. As soon as one leaf opened another was starting to show.I then moved them to ground and they are growing fast.Very happy. Some of the plants had small secondaries(one Cavendish had 2).So 4 Cavendish,Double,X,Grain Nain.I potted those and they are jumping and with that bonus and with $4 less a plant,I made up my loss with Oasis.I planted a Red Siam in ground and it was not growing well,so I potted it.Used a different compound and it died.I recently ordered another from FHN and it also had a small one.I don't know if they did that on purpose or not.I am going to dwarfs because of wind.I will make a temporary green house for freezes.I used Google Earth to look them up.The street(virtual way) is phony.Zooming in I got the real name. There really is a nursery there. So if anyone wants to go to Mich. to talk to them, that is the way to find them.
I filed a claim with BoA on my checkcard.BoA has refunded my money temporarily.I guess that means unless something new comes up,my money is refunded.I was taken by Computer Surplus Outlet and they refunded that also.I thought my money was gone.A lot of trouble to file a claim, but do it. Ty-Ty,Aron's and Willis have all sent me fruit trees that were not what I ordered. They looked like root stock.Isons are good. Last edited by saturn13 : 10-05-2012 at 02:48 PM. Re: Oasis Tropical Plants and Trees, is a joke of a company
Yo Tommy: Sorry to be a dummy...but what is "Ty-Ty"? Is that a name of a nursery? I am confused but it sounds like several small outfits might be having their stuff dropped shipped from this Oasis shop!?
Thanks Tom, Portland, OR. |

Re: Oasis Tropical Plants and Trees, is a joke of a company
Hey, welcome to bananas every one! I just got three banana plants Cavendish dwarf from Home Depot, Raja Puri and Gold finger from Lowe's and planted them already. Cavendish had two in one. They all look pretty healthy and two feet tall. If you are in AZ, there is a unique Hawaiian guy in Phoenix with all kinds of tropical fruits and plants and different banana plants too. You can find him on facebook or just google him as Shamus O'Leary's Tropical Fruit Trees. I am planing to go visit him soon.

Re: Oasis Tropical Plants and Trees, is a joke of a company
They have multiple complaints against them at the Florida BBB, though of course they are not a BBB member, nor is it even certain that they exist in Florida, as the cell phone number is from the Northeast.
It appears that they stall the customer just long enough so that money cannot be recovered. Then they never reply to email again. They never reply at all to phone messages. I just take it as a lesson learned, and broadcast as much as possible about this "company." File a BBB complaint. File a PayPal complaint (even though it is past 45 days, as they supposedly keep data on complaints and may eventually take some action). |

Closest name in Florida is a company that became inactive in 2009:
