Default Newbie Brown Edged Leaves

Hi, I purchased three banana plants about six weeks ago. They arrived with two leaves each. I planted them in pots and they have been doing very well. Last week I noticed that the edges of some of the leaves had turned brown and one leaf looked like it had been eaten across the leaf. I live in Bakersfield and we have had 27 days over 100 - the plants are shaded. There are no noticeable bugs on the underside of the leaves. This morning I sprayed then with Dawn soap and water to see if that will help. Any help would be appreciated.
I tried to upload a pic, but it never took me to where I could choose a picture. Sorry to not know how to do it.

Sharing pictures of the bite marks will help. Different insects leave different patterns for dinner. Imgur is easier to use.

That weather is perfect for bananas- their native habitats are hot and humid so that's great! Dawn soap can build residue on the leaves and strip their natural barrier overtime, unless it rains frequently in your area stop doing this lol. You can get a proper insecticide spray for $10 at Home Depot.

Brown leaves are caused by tiny pots, disease, infrequent watering schedules. Hearty plants but they're so fickle sometimes.
