Hiya Monkeying Around in Ohi

Please excuse the typo in the title! Yes I honestly meant to type Ohio! I just thought Iíd share some photos of my plants from this year! I added a little extra fun by posing my 2 Monkeys & a big banana blow up toys with the plants!

The tallest plants are Basjoos. They are the tallest banana plants Iíve got! I also have several cannas, Red Dacca, Orinoco, Zebrina and Thailand Giant elephant ear as well! Yeah since I donít have any real fruit on the plants Iíll hang up my banana blow up instead!

These 2 are Dwarf Brazilian & Dwarf Super Plaintain!

These are more Basjoos. Itís funny and odd that these are not very far from the taller ones and yet are still quite short!

Yes more Basjoos!

Stay tuned for some more photos coming upÖ.

Thanks! It was very kind of you to say! Yes I am leaving them outside but this year Iím going to do something different! I am going to try to cover them over with burlap sacks. I thought it might be easier for me to not have as much work to do!

Looking good, Mary!

I'd forgotten you have a basement. That would be a good place to put some grow lights instead of the garage.

How deep are your basjoo corms? If you go a foot, you shouldn't even have to do anything except mulch a bit. If you spend a couple bucks at Menard's (I think that's what you have up there) and get some Sonotubes (sp?), you can put them around the plants and fill with sawdust or leaves or something as an insulator too.

Thanks! I thought so too! Yeah Iíve already got some of my plants in the cellar now! You know Iím not so sure how deep the basjoo corms are. They have to be at least a foot down. Iíll have to check out the sonotubes things! Thanks again as always Doug!
