Monkeying Around in Ohi
Please excuse the typo in the title! Yes I honestly meant to type Ohio! I just thought I’d share some photos of my plants from this year! I added a little extra fun by posing my 2 Monkeys & a big banana blow up toys with the plants!
The tallest plants are Basjoos. They are the tallest banana plants I’ve got! I also have several cannas, Red Dacca, Orinoco, Zebrina and Thailand Giant elephant ear as well! Yeah since I don’t have any real fruit on the plants I’ll hang up my banana blow up instead! These 2 are Dwarf Brazilian & Dwarf Super Plaintain! These are more Basjoos. It’s funny and odd that these are not very far from the taller ones and yet are still quite short! Yes more Basjoos! Stay tuned for some more photos coming up….

Re: Monkeying Around in Ohio
Thanks! It was very kind of you to say! Yes I am leaving them outside but this year I’m going to do something different! I am going to try to cover them over with burlap sacks. I thought it might be easier for me to not have as much work to do!

I'm growing Elephant Ears as well!
I'm growing 2 types both are Giant Colocasia varieties. I love giant tropical plants XD You have a very nice tropical garden going there! Having the monkeys & banana in the pictures made me chuckle I like it!!

Re: Monkeying Around in Ohi
Looking good, Mary!
I'd forgotten you have a basement. That would be a good place to put some grow lights instead of the garage. How deep are your basjoo corms? If you go a foot, you shouldn't even have to do anything except mulch a bit. If you spend a couple bucks at Menard's (I think that's what you have up there) and get some Sonotubes (sp?), you can put them around the plants and fill with sawdust or leaves or something as an insulator too.
