Default Kokopo/Patupi flavor?

I'm interested in adding a Kokopo to my collection since it is short-cycle and has the "cool" factor with it's orange flesh. But I can't find any information concerning its flavor. Can anyone share any insights?

I just had my first bunch a couple months back. They are really good, probably my favorite that I've tried.

The flavor is subtle and complex. I noted at the time that across different fruits and different levels of ripeness I tasted hints of black pepper, raspberry, and lemon. They don't have almost any classic "banana" flavor. They are quite sweet but have an acidic tang that balances it out nicely.

The only thing that holds them back a bit imo is the texture, which is quite pasty. Definitely the pastiest banana I've personally grown. However while I prefer a denser banana, I'm sure some people will actually prefer this soft, fall apart on your tongue texture, so it's hard to really call it a negative.

Regardless, they were all eaten before they were allowed to get even the slightest bit overripe, so the texture didn't prevent any of us from really enjoying them. It's a definite recommend from me!

I am not a big fan of the flavor of the Patupi after all my work to get a bunch as documented in the thread that Cincinanna provided! LOL. It had a sweet potato flavor. I like sweet potatoes but I was like WTH? after a couple years of work.

Pisang Klotek (Mysore family) is a completely different story. A lot of work, patience, slow grower, and not very reliable in my zone but the best!

Haha! Yeah, I've only been able to fruit it once in four years although this year I should get two bunches in a month or so. Fingers crossed!
