Default I like to call it the "Camo" Banana.

Hello all-

I haven't posted here in awhile, but I came upon an interesting find at a nearby garden. The owner told me the name of the species, but I will have to go back and ask again. The leaves consist of white, gray, and green, and it likes the semi-shady area it is in. Supposedly it does not send up pups or propagate well, and is slow growing. Does anyone else have one of these?

Its the cultivar Musa 'Ae Ae'. Its the most common of variegated bananas out there. I got a small one myself.

*Drooling shamelessly*

Gabe, If they are still common down there next Spring maybe we could work something out . I will trade or buy ..... whatever

It's too cold to ship live plants anymore up here. I can ship semi/hard brugmansia cuttings year round but that is about it for my wintertime trading.

Is it Spring yet ?

scooter,
Im only 16, college is about two years away (I got about 1 1/2 growing seasons left) and nearly my entire collection that my "business partner" (for lack of better words, lol) already has is going on the market, so keep your head up, I can't hold on to these plants forever! ( I've had some rediculous offers for some of my plants!)

Not only is that an AE AE, pronounced "I I" it's a very nice one with a lot of pure white in the leaves. I have a couple here too. Cool plants indeed!

The most frequent place these turn up are on eBay, mostly ranging from $125 and on up to around $175 (plus shipping).

Warning - I once said I'd never pay over $100 for a banana but now have done it several times including four Ae Ae of which two croaked. I should have quit staring at them so much because I found them to be very attractive and addicting.
