Question haven't the foggiest...

Hi all. I'm new to the banana tree world. I was given a baby this spring from a friend and I LOVE it! It was about 3ft tall when I planted it and it has grown to around 12 ft this summer! It also has 3pups 4ft tall and one I call the runt of the litter that is only 1 ft tall I have promised 3 of the babies to friends already. I don't have much room for winter storage so I need to know if it's ok to remove the pups when I dig up the mamma and give them away for wintering elsewhere? I was also going to keep the runt in a pot in my kitchen to try to give her a head start for next year. Do they have to go dormant? Or will it be ok for it's first season? thanks so much!!!!!!

for some folks that is the prefered method..

Do they have to go dormant?

nope, just give them what they need.. sun or bright light and if they're growing, water them. i wouldn't drown them or keep them soaked, moist should do the trick.. i typically water mine in gh when the fans start to send up a dust storm..

bottom line if your getting growth equal to summer, well treat them as if it's summer. if growth isn't equal to summer or spring growth, then don't..
