![]() However, the amount of knowledge I can keep in my head is but a drop in an ocean vaster than I can probably imagine, so I am willing to entertain just about any possibility. If anyone gives this a try I would certainly be interested in hearing how it goes. I do love a good experiment after all ![]()

![]() Definitely fake. Bananas and shallots aren't closely related enough to graft, so the shallot wouldn't be able to transfer nutrients into that sliver of banana. If it were a case of using naturally occurring plant hormones to encourage the growth of the banana seedling it might make more sense, but then there'd be no reason to bury the shallot alongside the banana piece when you could just rub some of the juice on.
If trying to get a plant to grow from banana flesh, it'd take a significant amount of bioengineering to revert specialized fruiting body cells into a stem cell state. Might be possible with other kinds of plants, but it's typically a very labor intensive process done in lab conditions. Take a look at the soil towards the end of the second vid as well, it looks too fresh to have been sitting around long enough for that seedling to grow to such a size. If the soil had been undisturbed, it would have gradually become duller in color as the organic matter decomposed. They probably did a bait and switch with the plants in the pot.

![]() I don't wanna leave the discussion on a downer though, so here's a different experiment that may be fun to try. If you ever get your hands on a banana rhizome, you can try your hand on multiplying it and getting several plants:
https://cms.ctahr.hawaii.edu/wangkh/...cropropagation Plenty of other things to experiment and have fun with, the important thing is to stay curious and continue trying new things!

![]() Growing banana plants from fruit is intriguing as bananas are seedless. Instead, propagate using "suckers" or "pups" that sprout at the plant's image background removal services base. Remove a healthy pup with roots from the mother plant, then plant it in well-draining soil. Keep it warm and moist. Over time, the pup will grow into a new banana plant, continuing the cycle.
