I don't do bananas from seed so I don't know if the price is good but I do know that a dentist trip would cost more than $5. From your posts it seems you're interested in food producing plants; this is really not one. That said, if it really makes pink skinned bananas then it would fit in with my few flowering only plants.

I wasn't sure about the fruits. I also wasn't sure about the viability of these sorts of seeds.

Wait and the seed growers will chime in; they know. My point is that if you're looking for food plants, I'd skip this one. If you want to sell ornamental plants to supplement/support your homesteading efforts, this might be a good candidate.

I tried for months to get some to sprout. Finally a member on here sent me a handful and several sprouted. You read some say they are like weeds and others have trouble. I had trouble until I got very fresh seeds. I currently have several velutina plants. 2 are around 3'. It's my opinion the freshness of the seed is a big deal with velutina seeds. If you wanna wait I will send you a few pups this spring/whenever they pup. The fruit is very cool and some say if you catch it right taste great but is full of rock hard seeds you would have to eat around. If you don't wanna wait I would try to get very fresh seeds.

Georgiavines.com has 10 for $3 free shipping but ones I got still haven't sprouted. Overall I have had good luck from their other banana seeds.

Sounds great. Now just have to wait for spring. Which is the hardest part of growing bananas. Summer goes so fast. Winter so slow.

They are very ornamental, and bloom and produce pink bananas every summer, and will bloom the first year from TC, and probably from seed as well. I have several stored under my house dormant in pots, two in the ground outside, and one in here as a backup, and they are very prolific . The fruit is sweet but not really edible, you would have to eat quite a few because its like a bunch of BB's covered with pulp. Seeds are kinda unpredictable, freshness makes a big difference. Some can take months to germinate, even up to 2 years, others are very quick. I just had 14 Musa Itinerans India Form Germinate out of 50 in 2 weeks, thats very good and way past my expectations. I have only gotten 1 seed to germinate out of 50 before in 3 months. If you are going to try to germinate seed, try to get as many as you can to increase your chances. I always try about 50 at a time. Use temperature fluctuations also, I get the best germination by placing my seed containers by the ceiling for 5 hours in 80F, and the rest of the day at floor level under a cool window at about 60F I get all of my seeds from this guy in the UK, and have always had some germinate. I think his seeds are pretty fresh, and his prices are reasonable. can take a couple of weeks to arrive but worth it, and you get a lot more seeds.

The trick is easy... If it grows from seeds , it's gonna give seeds. So you're sure to get those seeds in your bananas.

On top of homesteading I am also trying to make a tropical jungle type landscape. If I don't like them I am sure they will be perfect in my friends aviary or possum cages. They can poop the seeds and sprout new ones.
