![]() Hi guys , I've managed to keep this Ensete alive but it's finding it hard to push out a new leaf because the top is very dried out. I was thinking about cutting away all the dry growth if this is a good plan please let me know.
Thanks Steve

![]() I just did a very similar thing with a NagensiumX that was pushing growth out the side or the corm. Chopped it down to the growth point and its now pushing out leaves properly. Hope it works for you to.

![]() If it's going to be outside, I'd just chop the leaves off and start over. I've done a lot of them that way and they come right back.

![]() nice one monkey. glad to hear its growing away nicely. I've potted up the ones I had left and am going for a 'glade' of Nagensium X, not a common sight in Wiltshire!

![]() I trimmed a little and there was more space around the emerging leaf than I though, the leaf is slow to form and seems to do well on warmer days. I think it needs to go in the Greenhouse for a few days, I was trying to get small areas of rot to dry up outside, this seems to have worked. If I had not got the plant into the condition it is in now I would not have so much work to do, note to self "Be a Better Gardener" :-)
I know what you mean about putting Exotics out and then having all the leaves burn in the Sun. Generally I do cut all old leaves off and start new, but this year I'm trying to save a leaf or two to help push the new leaf out with whatever energy the old leaves can supply. Later Steve

![]() will do. and yes bottom heat is the key. My Laterita had been really slow into growth and then by mistake I left the stat sensor out of the soil for a couple of days. When I noticed and popped it back in, it was at 25C and the corms were all into growth. will post photos later in the season
