Hello, new here. I'm glad to find a place like this.
I got a couple Banana plants a couple months ago! They have been doing so well and growing so fast! I have loved them. So 3 days ago I decided to fertilize them. I researched online and from what I could find they need a lot. I decided to give them 1 cup of 13-7-7 which is about 1/2lbs. It seemed like a lot but from what I found online it seemed right. So today I noticed my Raja Puri banana plant is wilting/drooping more than normal and it has me stressed!!!!! Did I over fertilize or is there another issue? I have uploaded a picture to my profile. Here is the link Any help is very much appreciated!!! Thank you Christian |

Thanks for the reply’s. Yeah it’s a beautiful plant I’ve been super happy with it. I would totally let it go outside but I’m in southern utah and it’s crazy hot, dry and windy. As far as to much nitrogen/fertilizer is there anything I should do? The plant should be ok right?

Indoors the plant will not grow as rapid so the plant needs less fertilizer. My guess is an 1/2oz or less of fert for the container. The fertilizer rate used in this instance is for a 24 gal container and a large plant growing outdoors. Keep an eye on the plant when it worsens do a soil change without disturbing the root ball too much.......no fertilizer. Pick out all fert and let the plant settle . The plant will take some time to sort itself out if it is damaged. You will be able to tell if the roots are damaged....they will be brownish or grey. Hope the plant sorts itself out. |

Too much fertilizer. Can you rinse it out the bottom of the planter? I've seen it done on Youtube, where they water the plant until the fertilizer color becomes clear. Edit: Just want to mention this may have the risk of overwatering as well.
