![]() Most of the variegated varieties in my collection were developed either through breeding or bud sports and hopefully this thread can help future trading partners to develop their own variegated varieties.
This photo is of my original variegated Patupi bud sport. Seldom is the first one ever perfect and that's why becoming proficient in mass macropropagation is very helpful. Next two photos are of plants developed through breeding. Many people like to kill the main growing point on a large older rhizome for macropropagation but I prefer removing the main growing point and macropropagating with the younger tissue. Variegated Manini A'ea'e prepared for macropropation Whatever method you use it's going to be very important to produce many new plants because the more you produce the better the chances of getting a highly variegated specimen from a slightly variegated mother plant. Next three photos are of the same mother plant. Quote:

![]() There's 9 variegated Florida on that piece of tissue.
Macropropagation is fairly simple and everyone should improve with a little bit of practice.

![]() I definitely want to try this, when both my Variegated Florida's get bigger I am going to separate them and then cut a piece of the corm off with a knife.
I will need to invest in a humidity propagation box.

3 Florida pups And after a little practice even variegated monstera will be easy. Normally one variegated monstera plant will produce 17 new plants each year but that number can easily be pushed above 500 annually. A bunch of variegated monstera

![]() Does variegated monstera produce edible fruit? I know some kinds of monstera don't.

![]() i don't know, I thought I heard somewhere that some kinds didn't produce fruit or that they weren't edible.
Is that plant going to climb up something or is it just going to sprawl on the ground? I saw a monstera at Leu Gardens that was maybe a hundred feet up into an oak tree. That's a very beautiful plant! |

![]() I'm ready to give it a shot
Might be a little overkill for bananas but should work great for home tissue propagation and growing from seed. I got a very nice humidity propagation dome, thermostat controlled heat mat, grow light, and some 3.5" square nursery pots

Throwing the seeds on the ground works fine for us. They just need air, moisture, and warmth and we have all that outside. Good Luck

![]() We have an unlimited supply of variegated bananas but I spend most of my time with the variegated monstera and breeding bananas. I'll make some variegated bananas available for free when I get some time. I'm really not interested in selling them.
