Default Cucumber mosaic virus?

I think one of my banana plants may have cucumber mosaic virus. It has appeared on one of the pups but not the other stems. This disease causes the leaves to display beautiful colors of noncontinuous streaks of light green, yellow and dark green. At least so far the bunch size is not affected. I will report the status of this banana plant in this tread periodically.

It wouldn't surprise me, the aphids have been very active this year.

This may be bunchy top virus. There are green streaks on leaves and very unusual. There is no dwarfing or bunching yet though. Is the bunchy top virus present in Florida?

No, we don't have it. We do have banana streak and cucumber mosaic

The streaks have faded and the leaves are darker green. It may have been an iron deficiency so I applied an iron drench and the leaves look better. The newest leaf has no streaking.

JCA433,

I just put in about 25 plants of various cultivars. They're all crashing. My name wah show that same streaking. I figured an Fe deficiency as well. But a lot of my plants are stunted. I've been hitting everything with chelated Fe and no change. I have leaf sheath separation on most plants.
What type of bananas did you experience your problem with?

I had the exact same striping and a couple of shots of good FE took care of it in a few weeks. I am dealing with just over an inch of rain this entire year and my high PH hard water starts to lock up some nutrients. Heavy rain can leach some nutes quickly so it can be a balancing act. I finally figured out how much FE my guavas need and will get a good crop this year.
116F high today, in my yard its a lot cooler (shade and foggers) and there are hummingbirds everywhere trying to stay cool.

I hope you're correct. I'm in Naples, FL and it's all calcareous soil so Fe def. was my first thought. Nam wah is the only type to show it. I want a lot of the other cultivars, are not going well, stunted and have weak even necrotic heart leaves. I'd post pics but can't figure out how to get them off my phone.

There's a thread on that. Look it up. It helped me...

The stripes I had on my banana plants are probably iron deficiency symptoms. This was corrected by applying iron sequestrene. The stripes faded away with time.
