Black Thai - Color Loss
I started the season with 3 Black Thai bananas, all "black" at the time. But one seems to have morphed to all green. The only black that remains is a black rim on the edge of the petiole. They are all growing in full sun. The other two are as black as can be. Thoughts?

Re: Black Thai - Color Loss
IDK much about Black Thai, but my Red turn geen when they get too much sun. In shade they stay a bright red. Maybe that has somethign to do with it?

Re: Black Thai - Color Loss
I'm not familiar with the specifics of Thai Black but I can tell you that on Alocasia and Colocasia that there is a color difference if they are grown in shade verses full sun.

Re: Black Thai - Color Loss
If your 3 are not clones it may be just a bit of the old genetic variability coming in to play, otherwise I would check that all are fertilized well and have good drainage. Poor soil conditions can dramatically affect color in some plants. If none of these are the issue, I haven't got a bloody clue.

Re: Black Thai - Color Loss
I also have that same problem. Both of mine started off black but now are more green than black. Maybe I will put one in a more shady area and see if the color comes back.

Re: Black Thai - Color Loss
I actually had the same problem. It started off black and then turned green. Now I think its starting to turn black again!

Re: Black Thai - Color Loss
I thought the sun brought the color out. In any case, they are all in full sun right near each other. The other two are very black. I guess maybe they are finicky.
