![]() on 4 of the basjoos i left leaves and all and covered them as high as i could with mulch. so these are the original p-stems. on the basjoo i didnt cover, it took 3 monts for the p-stem to fall over at the dirt line. we had some nasty nights here at about 9*-14*, these nights lasted for almost a week. my dwarf oronicos were not covered either( only about 6 inches of mulch) and these were the last p-stems to fall over to the dirt line.( i was amazed there were the last ones to fall) my sabas, oronico were covered with mulch and big trash cans. so hopefully they pull through.

![]() You did good! We got to -4 and had more than the usual few days(was more like weeks) of single digits. Despite great lenths p-stem was toast. Good to know about your others. I'm quickly getting the point that the Dwarf Orinocos and their assumed "sports" ie: Cali gold etc. are tough naners. Good info. Thanks

![]() Everything is starting to grow now. My basjoos are already 3 feet tall. They started growing around March 10th. I was late on cutting back the stalks. I managed to save about 1 foot of pstem with just mulched leaves.

![]() Congrats Sam!! I felt the same way when we took the hay bales off and saw the DOs and cannas popping up. Later Ric and I stood in the plant room and I said, look at all that won't have to be in here next winter and as he was looking so happy I was secretly thinking ... but who know's what will be taking their places!!! I'm still holding out hope for the laterita but I have some nice back ups of everything.
