Hiya My new musa sikkimensis

Hello fellow banana growers,

I just bought this musa sikkimensis, and i was wondering wether it would be best if i kept it in a pot the rest of this season, and then planted it next spring, or if i just dug a hole in the garden and planted it right away. I live in zone 8A/8B. I also had a musa sikkimensis last year, which sadly died over the winter, I think that i because i kept it in a pot and did'nt planted it in the ground.

Another question i have, is that as you can see in the pictures below, the banana plants pseudostem is tilted. Will this make the banana tree tilted when it grows up?

Thank you for your time, all of your inputs will be appreciated.

Images attached, as i could'nt upload them in the photo gallery.

When you re pot it, plant it straighter and it will take care of itself. I would put it in a larger pot if you leave it in a pot. Your pic's may be too large for the gallery, they need to be 2MB or smaller.

If it were me I would put it in the ground if you have a good place that you can keep relatively dry in the winter. Zone 8 you still have several months of decent growing weather for it to establish itself. Of course it will need to be protected over winter.

If you do choose to leave it in a pot, I agree it should be potted up and you should probably have a good protected place with some light (garage, basement, etc) to keep it over winter.
