Cool Question About Flower Identification

I had a banana which I thought might be "ice cream". the flower is longer then musa basjoo typically is, but the blossom is green/yellow with some red tint to the blossom, so I am figuring that somewhere along the line the blue java died and a Musa basjoo, which I thought was pulled out, survived. Am I correct to assume that blue java and it's sneaky twin, raja puri have deep red blossoms from the moment they emergy form the pseudostem?

I would like to try growing one eating banana both for the challenge and also for the pretty red blossoms (if that indeed is what I can expect). So assuming this banana is musa basjoo and not an eating banana, which banana would have a chance to produce given a solid 4 months window from June to the end of September? (assuming it blossoms in the late spring or early summer).

I've taken a look at the cold hardy list, but just showing what zone it can tolerate doesn't tell say which ones can grow bananas the quickest. Also, of these cold tolerant eating bananas, which are the prettiest, if any of them are.

As I considered my own question, I realized I had a broader question: Does the color of the Inflorescence vary depending on climate and soil? Or is the color delineated by species. I have never seen a red or purples flower from my musa basjoo, but that doesn't mean that other species might produce less red Inflorescence because of a cooler climate. I will try to post some pictures.

No. Musa basjoo has white\ yellow inflorescence. Other musa has red. Some cavendish are known to have green\red streaking in their bloom. Basically if you post a pic, members can id as basjoo or not. Might take longer to id the variety.

OK,

Here is my attempt to post two pictures:

Banana Gallery - Nerka's Pics

Banana Gallery - Unknown Cylindrical Bloom

The stuby blossom is musa basjoo for sure. The more cyclindrical one? Shape of the blossom is elongated and the tip is more open. But perhaps they are at different stages.
