![]() ![]() Was a single 2 ft plant in a pot last year, went nuts after repotting this spring. Split out the pups in the pot and these have been in the ground for 3 months! Hope mine look as good as yours come next year!

You have a lot to winterize! They look good for the 1st year. I accidentally cut mine too close to the ground year one, right through the corm, thought I killed it. It basically started all over 2nd year. I see you are zone 5b. Where at? |

![]() Looks good Mine are 2nd Year too. I am torn between digging them up and putting in the garge for the winter....or cutting back and mulching them in and covering with a tarp

![]() I brought all mine in potted last year, Thats just not an Option this year, They are way too big to come in the house now. I am leaning toward digging them out and putting the root balls in a tote with some potting soil and letting them go domant. I just am not sure if thats the best??? I want them to keep their size for next year

![]() I'm running an experiment this winter, I'm going to take pups off the two batches on the right and give to friends. Then I'm going to cut the mothers and bury them in mulch.
As for the ones on the left, all my other tropicals had to come in due to temperature this weekend. I just dug up the bunches and dragged them in too. ![]() I need more lights and an elevator...

![]() Nice set up, I have a small green house set up in my garage for the winter with lights in it. The garage is usually heated but I wanted to keep the plants closed in......in the even I let the fire go out for a bit. I have about 5 pups I want to give a super start for spring.

![]() I have grown Beasts this summer , They came out in late april at less that 2 feet tall, Now almost all of them are above the gutters on a ranch home. I have been asking the best way to keep them huge. I will need lots more lights too to keep them going in the garage.

![]() Yeah, I trimmed out quite a few lower leaves, some of them still very green and healthy. I'm glad that I did, we're on day 4 and no wilting in the pots!

![]() I like Funkthulhu's Idea There. Off to menards to buy more lights. The Garage is going to look like a tropical garden. I am thinking a baby pool and some sand right in the middle may be in order. Pic's to come later ....when I getit done. Its down in the 40s in the eve. here I had better get moving.

![]() Today is payday, so I'm going to be stopping off at the hardware store to get some more shop lights and some high-intensity (5000K+ light-temp) bulbs.
I'm happy to say that even with what I think is inadequate lighting, my nanners are all maintaining and I've only lost one leaf off the big P-stem (mostly I think from the damage of going through doorways, not lack of water). I think once I rig up an additional 8-footer, or 2 4-foot shop lights, I will have enough light intensity and spectrum to actually get a bit of growth off of some of these guys over the winter. (fingers crossed) Then I can throw these back in the ground come spring and Tim and I can have a race!

![]() Fankthulhu: You better be careful! I used to race stock cars at the local track and I'm up for the challenge! I have a few pups I'm bringing inside over-winter too. Now that qualifying is over, lets get the pace laps out of the way and hammer-down!
