![]() Hi,
I have a 2nd year Basjoo I didn't think it made it through the winter. I think I chopped it too close to the ground last fall, mulched and covered it with plastic. The mother was total mush this spring then late May it started growing four stems. I've had pups but they've been very small for a long time. (posted a photo in my gallery) Finally I have a larger one I can pot up soon. I repotted one of the stems and it went into shock for over a month but it's now growing again. This winter I'd like to save some of the stems for a taller tree next year. I'm thinking of using straw and I have a large 55 gallon or so plastic drum to put over the top. I kind of liked the heat tape idea and wrap it around the dead leaves before covering it. Does anyone think this is a good idea? Thanks in advance. |
