Question basjoo question

I used Sandy's bag method to over winter my basjoo's and it worked great. Saved all the psuedostems and have basjoos around 10 feet tall now. I have one that I didn't use bags on and it's coming up from the ground. It's only about 8" tall. Are they slow growing at first when they come up from the ground? Do they take off and really start growing fast? pics in mygallery

I had some that I chopped to the ground last year and they just came back as pups. They are only about 8" tall and are growing very slow. I would say yes to your Q. Once they get around around 18" they seem to take off. At least that's my experience.

Your Bananas look great. On a totally different subject I loved the "OHIO STATE" Banner in the middle of them. For fearing of getting burned at the stake I havent used ol "brutus the buckeye" as my avatar since most of the members are either in SEC,or PAC 10 territory. How does a Buckeye end up in Iowa. Im assuming the IWABIRD is for the hawkeyes!

Nice! I live in SW ohio also and my overwintered basjoo is only about 2ft tall.

Ah cool. I'm basically right between Dayton and Cincinnati.

I too am from ohio but i'm from the north. I don't really care all that much about sports but i do know that Ohio State does have a very good reputation with all things agricultural and i think they are even the state extension agents for us.
Go plants!
