Looks like the petioles do have some pretty good 'wings' on them but do I see wine staining on some of those lower leaves? Also, the p-stems look pinkish to me and I don't remember seeing that on any of the basjoo I have grown with the possible exception of small pups when they first emerge.....however I have never been accused of being the most observant Where are you located?

I'm in Windsor Ontario. Here are pics of them in the ground today. One does seem to have a bit of the "wine staining" you mentioned.[IMG][/IMG]

They are a Cavendish, most likely ‘Dwarf Cavendish’

Bummer was hoping they were musa basjoo. I dont think they are dwarf cavendish as I have one and it grows much slower then these which are growing very fast. Also the leaves are longer on these bananas.

The wine staining I've only ever seen on cavendish.

Yes of the 3 I bought 1 has that staining on the leaves. On the others there is some on the stem but not the leaves as in these pics. Because they were bought together I imagine they are some type of Cavendish. Don't know if I'll be able to bring them in for the winter as at the rate they are growing the will be huge! Hey does anyone out in western Canada know of a supplier for Musa Basjoo that doesn't have crazy shipping prices. Again they are very hard to find here in Ontario.
Cheers!

I don't know of any discount shipping outfits, but if you find one, I am happy to send a plant or two.
