It is too young for a 100% sure ID, but it is likely a type of Bluggoe.

Gabe, question about bluggoe group:

(sorry to hijack your thread Jacobelias but I think your question has been answered as well as it can be until the plant matures/flowers)

I am just curious, from your expert point of view, how many different varieties are represented by this group?

I am familiar of course with the orinocos, but that's as far as my knowledge goes. When I look around I can't seem to find much definitive info. Promusa lists a bunch of local names, but nothing on whether any of these represent different cultivars. I have seen discussions on whether plants like Texas Star and Cali Gold are sub varieties of orinoco, but if I remember correctly you though there was not enough info to consider them different entities.

Thoughts?

There is no way to realistically know for sure, but I’ve probably documented about 10-12 or so different Bluggoe, and a number of Bluggoe-like cultivars. Its not so clear cut when you get down to the details.
