I've read a Super Dwarf Cavendish is not really a Cavendish. Well, I have one that is fruiting. Can someone tell me what it really is and what size fruit I can expect? AND, what do I do in a case like this? Cut the stem to allow the fruit to expand?
IT's expanded/grown more since that last photo so I can post or update the photos as they get bigger.

Is it a Cavendish or are these some other type of sport and just called SDC?

I saw those and didn't touch them. Possibly transliteration errors by a foreign language speaker.

I just planted them in the spring too... So I was very surprised to get fruit so fast! And each plant has 2-3 pups! Waiting for one of the others to fruit next :-)

I always hear how difficult it is to fruit SDC. Good job. I hope they finish for you.

Great job! All modern “super dwarf” Musas are from an experiment where massive amounts of radiation was used to force mutations. The plant the radiation was being used on was a common Musa dwarf cavendish. The outcome of the experiment was named a Musa Novak. All modern super dwarf Musa are from this one Novak!
Since then people have used radiation and other methods to make slight changes “shorter” etc to be able to patent the name like “truly tiny” etc. $$$ Look up all the research online! It was very entertaining when I studied the history of the SDC a few years ago! As for taste it will taste like a normal cavendish banana (homegrown) 1000x better than the supermarket cardboard ones. Great job man! These are fun to watch bloom! Good little fruit also!

From what I'm reading, it will be smaller. Some places say a few inches some say up to about 6

My fingers in zone 9b were 4.5" max and the flesh diameters ranged from a penny to a nickle.

Mine were also exactly as Richard said. Very small. You could maybe prune some and get larger fruit. I may try on my next bunch.

Do you think it ends being the same amount of fruit total either way? Remove some and get some larger ones or just leave them and get more smaller ones? :-)
