Identification of 3 plants
Hi guys,
I just received the first 3 banana plants of my life, I purchased them from Germany and after a cold trip they arrived in average conditions as you can see from the pics. I purchased a Musa cardaba, a grand nain and a giant plantain, but the plants reached without any label to identify which is which... Now the million dollar question is? Which is a cadabra,a grand nain and a giant plantain? Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated, as well as any tip regarding how to keep them for a couple of months indoor (early spring I'll put them on ground in Southern Sicily). Ciao, Andrea |

Re: Identification of 3 plants
I would say Grand Nain is the first one,Cardaba the second and Giant Plantain the third but your best bet for knowing for sure(at least what they were sold as) before they fruit is to contact the seller

Ciao Andrea , le hai prese da EKE Palmen Oases su ebay giusto ? Anche a me sono arrivati due banani ma senza cartellino per identificarli.... Comunque i prezzi sono buoni. In bocca al lupo per la piantagione. English translation for the others forum's members: Hi Andrea , did you buy them from EKE Palmen Oases on E-bay, isn't it ? I got two 'nanas without tags from them too ... Anyway they have good prices. Good look with your nanas. |

Last question for you: since in a couple of months I will put these nanas on ground, would you keep them in those small pots for this period or it would be better to move them on larger pots? What about watering in this period? As you can see from my questions I am totally new into this world.. Ciao!!! Andrea |

Re: Identification of 3 plants
My plan would be what Ante described also! Just provide them a warm and as bright place as possible and as long as you see growth, you are good! With correct conditions, they will grow pretty fast!
I judged the IDs of the 2 others banans based on intensity of white under the leafs: Cardaba has bluish fruits and so should have a good deal of white overall
