Great deal I got for a 25 gal pot of an unknown!
This is an unknown banana that I bought today from my friends at Rockledge Gardens. It was an over grown 25 gal. pot at a great deal for $30. There were two adult plants and three babies. When I got it home and split it, turns out that there was two seperate main rhizomes in the pot. So this might possibly be two different verieties. Each of the main rhizomes were 8-9 ft tall and had 1-2 small pups and one had a large one (3ft. corm). Guess we'll see what it is when the two larger ones fruit, hopefully they'll start flowering this fall!!! Knowing what the nursery regularely have for a selection, knowing they replanted two plants in the 25 gal pot, I think it might be an Ice Cream or a Williams. Would be awsome if it was one rhizome each in the pot!!!!! I'll take pictures of the planted bananas another day. My back yard is a mess due to some messy contractors that pressure washed old paint off of our patio walls and messed up some of my plants!!!!!!

Here is one of the planted bananas from my 25 gal pot deal! This one stands about 9 ft. tall at the top of the p-stem! The leaves are around 4' long. Hopefully in the next month it'll recover the seperation and replant and start shooting out new untathered leaves!!! I can't wait to find out what this is.

It looks so much better even though it's just been planted. It'll probably recover in no time, I think Bencelest is right, you might get a bloom this year

Great find!! I always mooch around the out of the way corners of nurseries - you never know what they have tucked away that they don't really want anymore!!

Don't want, don't know they have, forgot all about.... Oh yeah, those are definately the plant deals I want, the ones no one else would want and usually they revive better than if you had bought it at full price and they were already looking great!

hey jp...havent you hear this before...wise man say never pay full price for something stuck in the corner of a nursery. LOL! how do you think i got my monstera plant for 15.00? it was stuck in the way-back corner of the gh. it had a price tag on it for a lot more. but the few brown leaves on it got me a HUGE discount. lol.
