Hi my name is raldeen and I am having trouble with a banana pup can anyone help me.I am from Hawaii on the island of oahu.my neighbor has a banana tree growing g in his yard dwarf variety. Its small but gives him bananas there's one of his pups is growing in my side of the yard which grew under the fence and in my yard he says I can have it so my question is how do I divide it with the fence blocking it from the mother plant and how would I know if it has roots or not?

Dig down around the base and look. The roots are shallow, so use a shovel about 10"-12" around & under the root ball. Then shake off some of the dirt on the roots. You will quickly have the answer.

Welcome to the Banana Express.
Take a shovel, and take a chunk out of the existing corm. You'll feel it punch through. The half left behind will have the roots.
