Ok, so I realized that when I joined here almost 2 years ago, I never wrote an introduction........
A little late I guess, but hey, better late than never. A few years ago, I started a business raising Poison Dart Frogs. Plants were a necessity for decorating terrariums. As my interest in making vivid displays grew, I searched out more and more exotics and tropical plants for the terrariums, eventually leading to jewel orchids, which became a bit of an obsession. mini bromeliads were a staple in my setups, and later this extended to some extremely large bromeliads that grow to over 4' in height. Which in turn led to Gingers, then Heliconias, Cannas, cactus and succulents etc., and finally bananas. I started collecting bananas around 2 1/2 years ago, I found this site a few months after my first purchases. Over the last few weeks, I completed the purchase of a bananas.org members entire collection of bananas giving me a total of just over 80 varieties, with plans to purchase even more over the next few months. At the moment, I don't have any plans to sell pups. At least not yet. Mostly I purchased the bananas for the purpose of tissue culturing. I figured a nice stand of a dozen Siam Ruby would look really nice in my front yard !! Currently I have 4 strains in limited vessels, with plans to eventually produce all of the varieties in at least minimal quantities. So hi all, my name is Steve and I'm a plantaholic ![]() |
