Jarred,

I have been throwing Banana Bucks into savings for the past few months. To this point, only 1 interest accrual has materialized. Is there something I am missing?

Thanks,

John

Patience. ;)

You could probably PM him for a faster response.I have gotten all of the interest that I have expected, but it is possible that adding to the savings resets the amount of time that it all has been there.

Hi John,
Your first deposit was 9-27-08 so I think you should have just seen one interest accrue as that happens every month.

Help me out, Jarred (BTW, congrats)....first deposit on 9/27 interest accrues on that deposit on 10/27? Second deposit on 10/22. Shouldn't there be another interest accrual on 11/22 and 11/27?

Thanks,
John

Thanks John!
Interest is calculated every 30 days and is credited based on the exact amount in your savings at the moment the calculation is done. Deposits made during the entire interim of this rolling basis will all be added at the 30th day and paid out accordingly at that time.
This may change in the future. :)

Jarred,

I am now totally confuesd.

I started deposits into savings on 9/27. From that point, I have periodically put more deposits into savings, I got one interest payment around 10/27 or so. Since then, nothing.

Please explain to me how the interest accrues. Pretend that I am 10 years old so that I may understand.

BTW, this is not a big deal for me, I just seek knowledge.

Thanks,

John

From the date that I installed the software, 30 days after that and thereafter, is when interest is calculated and credited (accrued).
If you make 5 deposits within each 30 days, it will all get added at that final moment when interest is calculated. Not 30 days (to the second) after each and every deposit.

BTW, I'm working on a way to show on your credits.php?do=banking page exactly when the next time interest will be calculated. I realize this could be improved.

As I have shown, my last (first an only, as well) interest was credited
around 10/27, that was 40 days ago....more than 30.

Thanks for following up.

Close :)
The last time interest was credited was on 11/10/2008.
The next time that interest will be calculated will happen on 12/10/2008
I have added this information to the banking page here:
http://www.bananas.org/credits.php?do=banking
The date you see there will update automatically each month to remove any confusion and make it clear for future generations. Glad we made this system easier to understand, thanks for the feedback!
Cheers

PS, before you ask, I will tell you - the reason why you didn't get interest about October 10th was because at that time, you had just slightly less than the 500 BananaBucks required to be in savings for interest to accrue. ;)
