joe the ghost,
Welcome to the forum.:waving: You might introduce yourself in the members introduction area of the forum. Where are you located?
You want the coir to be moist, but not too wet IMO. Good luck.

Welcome to the forum.
It may take awhile to get growing, but definatly dampen the soil, and don't let it get too dry either or the roots will die.

Soak the coir, then squeeze it as hard as you can to eliminate excess water. Now you have the proper moisture content.

Thanks for your replies y'all ,I have been a member for some time but don't often post.I will try to enter members details, though I am no Bill Gates when it comes to computers.I live in England(it's next to Ireland) and we have a limited choice of bananas here due to the climate, mainly basjoo and maurellii.I am lucky in that I have a conservatory to nurse things along with.I have been growing bananas since about 1965 and have stuck mainly to those plants from Thailand and grown indoors. This post is about a Florida 2 I bought on Ebay,it has no roots or leaves ,it has to go through this process during sterilization and starting them off doesn't seem to be too easy.

starting them off is not easy. I am batting .500 which is great in baseball but not with imported bananas :waving:
