Default Just got my first Banana!

I just received my first Banana- it’s a Truly Tiny.
I have zero experience with Bananas, but picked the Tiny so I can bring it inside easily during the cold. I have it sitting outside under the covered patio to recover from shipping. The instructions that came with it says to let it recover for a few days before transplanting but it’s poor little roots are coming out the bottom so I felt like it was begging me to move it into my Coffee cup planter ASAP. I potted it up using a mixture of 70% Foxfarm Ocean Forest potting soil and 30% worm castings. I also gave it 5ml of liquid 3-2-5 organic fertilizer. Hopefully that’s not too much to start it off.

Super good condition for the plant! Hope the coffee cup has plenty of drainage !!!! Seeing as how healthy the plant is, I see no problem with having planted it. The fert I would lay off until it gets firmly established, but again, seeing its healthy state, I think you are ok with what you did so far.
Rest of board - comments on how much to feed this in future and how often?

I hope you didn't plant it any deeper than it was in the sq pot. The top of the corm should be at soil level. Also the potting soil must drain very fast. ... Mist the plant a couple of times a day and foliar feed with miracle grow about every 10 days. The low humidity in the house can dry out the plant even when the soil has enough water. ... That is a tropical plant use to high humidity and/or the high humidity of a greenhouse.

The coffee cup only has one 3/4” hole in the bottom for drainage. I put a piece of landscape fabric over it and a 1/2 layer of gravel on the bottom for drainage. The soil seems to drain fast but I noticed it felt dry after only one day. Now I am giving it water every day. I also mixed in 10 ml of liquid Humic acid for the roots. What I love about this plant is it gives almost instant feedback on how it’s feeling. I water it and you can almost see it’s leaves moving as it perks up. When the soil starts drying up the leaves start folding down.

It’s not potted any deeper than it was in the 4” pot- actually the potting mix went down and now the original soil and plant are 1/2” higher than surrounding soil. The top leaf appears to have grown several inches in just a couple days and appears almost ready to unfurl. My wife thinks it’s too small and wants me to get a bigger one. My daughter says she wants the Ice Cream variety, but I want to stay with the Super dwarf miniature ones. I am thinking of getting a Dwarf Lady Finger next.

Here’s a picture from this morning. It’s quite overcast so I moved it out under the sky where it can get more light and some afternoon sun.
