Hey all, new grower from Northern Europe here!
Purchased my first dwarf Cavendish less than a week ago and its pushing nice thick cigar leaf already. However today i noticed that the lower part of p-stem has developed a crack. Is this something i should worry about or just a normal thing? Plant looks very healthy otherwise.

you might want to watch it, could be a choke but I doubt it. looks like its growing fine.
might not be a dwarf cavendish. looks more like a sumatrana cross. [might be.] if you had a zebrina rojo you would know it, way more copper color absolutely a beautiful plant. sumatrana x is a beautiful plant but side by side with a zebrina it pales in comparison.
your plant is wonderful looking, copper under the leaves and copper on the p-stem. don't give it full sun, plenty of shade, mine have not done well unless I put them under 50% shade cloth.

Thanks for answer beam!
No full sun? Ouch, i have been giving it full sun + supplementing with 250w led grow light overnight.
Could this crack actually be caused by rapid growth? I gave it some kelp extract with molasses fertilizer during repotting, after which it drank around 2 liters (0.53 gallons) of water in 5 days and pushed that cigar leaf.
However i will limit the lights from now on. Btw is it the light or heat which causes issues? I actually measured the leaf surface temperature with infrared thermometer today when it was under full sun and temperatures were hovering around 30c (86f)

lights are probably ok. don't know. full HOT SUN seems to get them.
don't think I would worry about the crack right now. just keep an eye on it. nothing you can do about it anyway that I know of. if it keeps growing your probably all right.

It is normal growth for Musa. As the pstem gets larger it “outgrows” its outer leaves/layers. So they split in the middle like this.
It looks fairly good for an inside plant! Good job!

I wouldn't run the light over night. Your plant needs darkness. If anything, use the light for daytime warmth and supplementary light if needed.

Bought the plant week ago so i can't take credits yet, but thank you!
The split has evolved quite a bit, but it seems to be only 1 layer deep and the plant seems very happy otherwise. It has pushed 1 beefy leaf already and the second one is on its way. A little pup also emerged from soil today!

Really? I was in impression that there is no "need" for dark period unless you want to initiate flowering, but maybe i'm wrong.

I believe that darkness is required for most plants to grow properly. https://sciencing.com/darkness-affect-plant-growth-4567350.html
