Hi!
This is my first year growing bananas, which I managed to do from seed here in the South East of England right on The English Channel.
I'd like advice please on the best way to overwinter them now that all 8 are about 2' to 3' tall. I want them to have the fastest start next year so I thought the best way to achieve this would be to pot them up from the beds and overwinter them in my greenhouse, which I will heat at about 6 to 10C. Is this the best method please?
Also, what mix of soil would you recommend? I have perlite, proper sand, shop peat compost, my own compost and leaf mould, crocks for the bottom of the pot, and ordinary gravel.
What would you recommend about watering both on potting up and over the cold winter?
Is there anything else I should know/do?
Many thanks,
Pearse.
