I just gave away 5 pups from my ice cream. It's so prolific and was taking over my garden. Each pup ranged from 2 feet to 7 feet.
Hope yours is the real deal.

Everything I've gotten from them has been a TC. Question is do they come from elsewhere or does he do it himself?

How does one know that Aloha didn't get it from Agri-Starts, or from someone else, who originally got it from A-S?
I must say, though, that I have been dealing with A-S almost since they started in business, and I find them to be a very reputable and reliable company. I'm not saying that mistakes are never made, and I have never bought the so called, "Ice Cream" from them.

Aloha does its own T/Cing.. I'd go agri-starts for anything but ice cream, well unless you want a tall namwah then its all good.. :^)

When the winds come you will know why changing the mind is a good thing. Dwarfs like RP, DN, DB can survive anything except 6 hrs of 26F deg. I will still keep medium height naners like Gfinger and SH 3640 cause the fruit is so good. Eventually all the PK's (tall and long fruiting cycle) will go to folks south of me and I'll visit to get some fruit when ready.

I had a friend who knew somebody who knew somebody who met a lady in a store who had a uncle who swears he worked with a guy who........

Got plenty of them here in Hawaii. Nobody wants them. I have trouble selling the fruit or the pups. The blue fruit are cool looking though.

I think this has been hashed and rehashed. :ha: AS seems to be a good business, but they certainly make errors. There are at least two types of errors they make: (1) things they are consistently wrong on because they have they have mislabeled material that they started their TC lines with. For example, we already know that what they TC and sell as Ice Cream is not. It is the usual "Namwah" variety that is usually sold under that name in the US. (2) They have mix ups in the trays they put together. I think Nick has bought literally hundreds if not thousands of TC bananas from AS and there have certainly been some errors -- i.e., the wrong thing mixed in the tray. I think those errors are pretty rare, but you'd have to ask someone like Nick with big sample sizes.

Can anyone from their photograph tell that if this is the exact plant that Aloha Tropicals tissue cultured, then will the plant received from them be the real "ice Cream"?

Must be the "mother plant" of my Blue Java. Congratulations. Whenever they are ready to eat, can I come over and buy a taste sample from you?
My plant is doing great BTW. Have build a structure around it to protect it from potential frost in our canyon area ( see my gallery, posting the photo from my phone does not work, sorry)

Could be -- or not. Many of Aloha Tropicals banana photos are wrong. I wouldn't take them too seriously. I suspect they were taken from other sources to simply have photos to put on their website.

Here's a 4 month old bunch. This mat is gone after I harvest the fruit. It spreads too much.

Is there anyway that you could provide a picture of the fruit? If so, I would be interested in one if it is the real blue java.

Thanks Jon. That's the real deal. Note the very long fruit stems (pedicels). Blue Java has those, the Pisang Awak ("Namwah") varieties don't.
