I have had it in a container and I think it has been to deep as far as the corm is concerned to pup. So I am putting it in the ground today. How deep should it be? Do I wash the corm first?

The depth of the corm really doesn't determine that. If you want it to pup simply add a lil root stimulator to your mix and believe you me it will pup.. The main thing however is that your plant is healthy. Ice creams will pup eventually they are just slower/smarter(?) at pupping compared to the likes of DC especially and others that pup alot. Hope that helps. :^)

You definitely want the corm to be completely buried and preferably at least 10cm below ground level(with those 10 cm or more above it preferably being organic matter rich soil). The depth doesnt inhibit pupping but being too shallow, wont allow it to grow as vigorously nor root as well as bananas root from the newer corm tissues mainly.
''Ice Cream'' is a slow banana to pup in general and doesnt produce many pups. It tends to pup only when main plant has trouble or naturally very late during its growing, when its large and flowering.
