You definitely want the corm to be completely buried and preferably at least 10cm below ground level(with those 10 cm or more above it preferably being organic matter rich soil). The depth doesnt inhibit pupping but being too shallow,wont allow it to grow as vigorously nor root as well as bananas root from the newer corm tissues mainly.
''Ice Cream'' is a slow banana to pup in general and doesnt produce many pups. It tends to pup only when main plant has trouble or naturally very late during its growing,when its large and flowering.
