well back before I used Kaspersky I got really into tweaking windows and messing around with registry's as well as modding my computer to run really really fast. After playing around with all that and learning the ins and outs of the windows program and computer architecture I can pretty much look in a few places on my computer and know of any changes and look around for things that are running that I did not install. I have other programs running that tell me how hot all my chips are how fast all my cooling fans are running as well as how much power my CPU is pulling from my power supply at any given time. I was also into Gaming for a bit as well.
Not to mention with all my kids I have my network set up so I know everything that is going on when I am not around!
basically I am pretty dialed into what my computers performance is and if it blinks too slow I try to find out why... lol
I have a Unix dual boot set up and play with that a lot as well.
The review you read is based on computers already having the ad aware and malware. The programs function is to fix a problem that is already there not stop it from happening in the first place. A good internet security suite such as Kaspersky keeps you from getting it on your machine in the first place!
But there are those people that have some compulsion to keep clicking things they shouldn't even when a program keeps telling them not to or asked you if your sure you really want to do that, like my father in law.... hahaha

I should also add that since using ESET I have never found any add or malware on my pc.
