Hey Gang,
It's been a number of months since I've posted anything here. It has been cold in Central Texas and all my banana tree have taken a hit. I have left them to the most part to the elements. On a few of my most favored ones I placed a good layer of mulch/ compost around them. Others in pots are probably dead.
I still have several large compost piles which I no longer feed. In a way I have moved on to old hobbies which have taken much of my time. So these piles and several unopened bags of coffee and 5-gallon buckets remain in the back yard.
Anyhow, I guess what I'm getting around to is when should I chop into my trees/ plants? In my mind I'll wait tell it gets warm in the Spring, but I've noticed a neighbor across the street who has bananas has gone ahead and chopped at his.
Happy New Years All,
Dean
