I was working with a bunch of A'ea'e pots today that were setup for macropropagation and decided to take a photo specifically because of your post.

Many of my propagation posts are meant to give members the basic idea of what works without saying exactly how something should be done.

Tipping a pot over obviously works but there's a better way of doing it.

Here's a post I wrote a couple years ago that was meant to give members growing A'ea'e the basic idea of how to prevent killing their A'ea'e during the winter while also macropropagating it at the same time.

Basically a rhizome planted too deeply will self adjust the location of it's main growing point by sending up a slender growth containing the growing point to it's preferred depth. Once it's at that depth it will regain it's bulb like shape, it then resembles a dumbbell because it has two bulbs connected by a bar shaped growth.
Did any other members do this over the winter?
