Good choice. It's counterproductive.

The photos below are of an experiment that partially stressed a plant to produce an early bud emergence while leaving all the leaves intact. The premature bud emergence had a negative effect on fruit size but because the plant had the necessary amount of leaves to properly mature the fruit their taste and quality were perfectly normal.
