Our country has changed dramatically over the past 50 years. Respecting the fact that this is a banana forum, I will not elaborate. However, in the Midwest, that type of life still exists. People respect each other and welcome strangers. While traveling to speak in small towns, I have had people invite me to their homes for Sunday dinner and take up the cash for the jukebox and give it to me to play the music at the bar. These people didn't know me, but they TRUSTED me; a stranger.
These places DO still exist, but they are getting fewer and farther between. It's a shame too, because only a generation ago, this WAS America. Great memories though. Special thanks to all of the ice holes who drive off without paying for your gas. Now, we all have to try and guess how much we need and pay for it first. In the small towns on the way to my cabin, you still pull in, pump your gas and then pay. One day, we will return, but not as long as our borders are wide open. End of post, before I say too much.
