The original Patupi didn't make it. He got killed by the second low temp dip we had in January afer surviving the early November freeze. Thought he was going to make it. Dang it!!
The original is dead (can be seen between the pups when zoomed) but he sired two pups which made it through the winter to continue the saga. I dug up the entire corm and moved it to a better location after prepping the soil with six bags of black cow. This new Patupi Only Patch is in front of my large orange tree to protect it on the North side and it gets full sun from the South from 8 am till 5 pm.
I will wait a month to see which pup is the stronger then separate the weaker from the main corm. Planning to juice the Patupi to the maximum with fertilizer to push it hard. I figure I have a two month head start over the prior year, an established corm, and a better spot with less competition.
