One possible way to ID a Maoli is that I don't believe it ever has any red streaks in the leaves when young. Also, the fruit should be rounded on the end, not pointed. Also, the petioles tend to have pink margins.

My Ae Ae (variegated Maoli type) was also a rapid grower, but not as fast as my Saba, and bloomed about the height of the plant mentioned in the first post of this thread.
