My advice, from learning the hard way, would be to exercise caution when exhibiting enthusiasm for a new hobby. (I know, easy to say but hard to do)

When I decided I wanted to try my hand a growing bananas several months ago, I bought some TC's online without really knowing what I was doing or researching my options. Fortunately, things turned out OK and my small plants are finally showing signs of growth, but it I were to do it over again, I would've kept my money in my pocket longer and looked more at options closer to home.
