It was a Red Dacca, while my other ones started with 4 (have 10 now) are lady fingers. I am in Australian Zone 3 which temp wise is the same as zone 8 in USA.
I guess the difference was the Red Dacca was probably had just recently been brought in from another higher temp zone while the lady finger i have have been growing in my nans garden for the last 38 years.
Apart from its stunning appearance, i got the red because the id tag said it was cold hardy and the nursery staff assured me would have no issues growing.
It died at the slightest touch of cold weather in the first few weeks of winter. On either side of it i had the lady fingers all in the same pots.
I cant find another red at the moment, but when i do get another one ill treat it better than my others.
